The
gaitera Susana Seivane, the Escola de Gaitas de Vilafranca and the group Aira da
Pedra have been the awarded in the fourth edition of the rewards that
the Berciana Association of the galician language Xarmenta grants to
the people or groups that have been more distinguished in the defense of the
Galician language. The delivery act will be celebrated next the 15 of January in
the Theater Bergidum de Ponferrada. Xarmenta decided to award to Seivane, the Escola and Aira gives to Predra “ like representation of a whole movement, rich and fruitful, that believes in the importance by the roots and the cultural diversity as forms of commitment with the society and the future ”, representatives of the association explained in press conference. “ the scope of the folk music is at this moment in el Bierzo, and in Galicia, the cultural sector that more jeopardizes with the putting in value of the suitable, as much in its recovery as in its dignification by means of a good work ”, they added.
The success of Susana Seivane, Aira da Pedra and the Escola de Gaitas de Vilafranca do Bierzo is the success of all we who we strived, of a way or another one, so that music and the letters that accompanied to our grandparents in the work by anger it, in fiandón or in the domestic workings never die”.
Xarmenta recognizes its enormous satisfaction when granting the prize to the Escola de Gaitas de Vilafranca do Bierzo as to the group Aira da Pedra: “they are a good example that youth is sensitized with the culture; that young people have principles directed towards the conservation of it than differentiates to us like cultural community; Aira da Pedra are the alive sample of the enjoyment to create good music. In the notes that leave their instruments the Galician language of el Bierzo resonates with the force that it needs to continue alive in this region”.
